Radon
Testing and Mitigation

I
met Dirk at the radon class in Reno in June, 2006. He is certified
as a tester and mitigator through the Nevada radon web site
and through the NEHA, National Environmental Health Association.
Though the company name is Fallon Heating and Air Conditioning,
his business is based in Carson City. He has done radon mitigation
projects in the Tahoe Basin at Zephyr Cove, Incline Village
and on the South Shore, so he will come up to the lake, and
is in the process of applying for California Certification.
Dirk
brings HVAC knowledge to the radon field and is one of a few
certified mitigators that can test for RDPs (radon decay products)
along with radon. He can design a HEPA air filtration system
that will effectively remove up to 95% of the RDPs from the
air without the need for a formal radon mitigation system. And
he can test the effectiveness of the system, something that
most HVAC contractors cannot do. The EPA says that removing
RDPs is the goal of radon mitigation, so this is another method
of reducing the effects of radon that can be added to our arsenal.
